Zero-Knowledge Proof

A cryptographic proof that something is true, without revealing the underlying data.

A zero-knowledge proof lets you prove a statement is true without revealing the information behind it. You can prove you know a password without showing the password.

In crypto it powers privacy coins and zk-rollups, where proofs are used to convince the main chain that thousands of transactions were valid — without the main chain re-executing any of them.
