PancakeSwap Floats 88% Fee Share for LPs With 69% CAKE Emissions Cut

Market Intel · Just now · Not financial advice

PancakeSwap's governance forum is debating a radical fee and emissions overhaul that would hand liquidity providers 88% of trading fees on v3 and Infinity pools.

The proposal redirects the remaining 12% to the protocol treasury instead of the current split, while keeping v2's CAKE burn mechanism untouched. At the same time, CAKE emissions would drop by 69%, slashing the token's inflation rate in a single stroke.

Why the shift matters for LPs

Higher fee shares mean more real yield for anyone providing liquidity on the concentrated v3 pools or the newer Infinity model. The treasury allocation gives the DAO a war chest for grants, security audits, or strategic buybacks without touching the burn that v2 loyalists rely on. It also aligns incentives — the protocol only profits when LPs profit.

The inflation trade-off

Cutting emissions by 69% reduces sell pressure from farmers dumping rewards, but it also tests whether fee revenue alone can keep capital parked on the DEX. If volume holds, LPs win twice — bigger slices of a growing pie and a scarcer token. If volume dries up, the lower emissions won't matter because the pools empty out. The proposal bets that PancakeSwap's BNB Chain dominance and multichain expansion can sustain the volume.

What happens next

The proposal is still in the discussion phase; a formal vote follows if community sentiment holds. Traders and LPs should watch the snapshot poll — the outcome sets a template for how other AMMs balance treasury sustainability against tokenholder dilution. A yes vote could kick off a broader shift toward fee-centric tokenomics across DeFi.
