Crypto's $2.7M House Blitz Is Really About One Stalled Bill

Market Intel · Just now · Not financial advice

Crypto's biggest political war chest is open again, with less than a month left before US voters head to the polls.

$2.7 Million Landed in One Weekend

Fresh filings with the Federal Election Commission show two Fairshake affiliates — Defend American Jobs and Protect Progress — spent a combined $2.7 million on media and direct mail. The money backs both Democrats and Republicans running for House seats. The individual checks vary wildly: $512,000 for California's Pete Aguilar, $500,000 for New Jersey's Josh Gottheimer, more than $76,000 for House Majority Whip Tom Emmer and $73,000 for Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn Thompson.

The Bill Behind the Money

Every candidate on the list voted for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in 2025, the market-structure bill that would hand the CFTC more authority over crypto. It cleared the House with bipartisan support but failed a procedural Senate vote in September. That failure is what reopened the spending taps.

A Bipartisan Shopping List

Fairshake has now endorsed 32 House incumbents — 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats — with six of them getting $1 million each in supportive media. It will not say how much the other 26 will receive.

Spokesperson Geoff Vetter calls the group "issue-focused" and says it has won 53 of the 57 races it engaged in this cycle. The wider plan includes at least $30 million aimed at Ohio's Senate race, where Republican Jon Husted faces Democrat Sherrod Brown. Brown already absorbed nearly $40 million in crypto spending in 2024 and lost.

Why This Matters

Fairshake reported $122 million in cash on hand in August. That is real leverage over the people who will write the rules for stablecoins, exchanges and DeFi. If pro-crypto candidates win in November, the CLARITY Act likely gets another shot — and that decides how your tokens get treated for years.
